Frequently Asked Questions

No. Our program is designed to take you from knowing little (or nothing) about coding, to prepare you to land a web developer job. All you need to start is motivation and dedication.
There are different routes you can take! You could start your own business, you could remain at your current job and work as a freelancer, you could join other developers to build your own app or web developer company. You could transition completely into a web developer career and work for one of the many startups in Austin or you could work remotely for companies inside and outside the States.
We offer a full stack (Front End and Back End) program that can be completed in 9 months. Our part time program is divided into 3 courses, Introductory, Intermediate, and Advanced. Each course is 10 weeks long.
You will spend 2.5 hours twice a week in class for a total of 5 hours in classroom. You should expect to spend 5 additional hours per week doing homework and project assignments. In total you should commit at least 10 hours a week per course.
After you submit your information through our website, within 48 hours you will receive an email with some questions and a short assignment and we will give you a call and ask you a little more about yourself and why you want to learn code. Depending on the information you provide, we will notify you via email whether or not you have been accepted into our program. Course payment information is included in the acceptance email.

You have 14 days after the acceptance email date to make payment. If full payment is not received within the 14-day period, your name will be removed from the class list and application process will need to be repeated in order to continue. If your application is received and approved when there are 14 days or less before class start date, your payment must be received within 48 hours of application acceptance email. We accept credit, debit, or money order payments. Personal checks and cash are not accepted.
You will need your own laptop, but you don’t have to buy any books. The text editor we will use to write code is an open source app called "Brackets". With the exception of your laptop, we provide everything you need to start learning!
You may use any Mac or PC computer. You must install Google Chrome and Brackets. For this course you don’t need anything fancy to learn code.
This is not our main source of income. All of us at Developers Coding School have full-time jobs. We are offering these courses because we want to give the motivated people of our community an affordable career option.
Once you complete our program we will invite recruiters and tech companies for a meet and greet and to review your portfolio.
Our free course has a non-refundable $50 processing fee.

Our other paid courses, (Introductory, Intermediate, and Advanced) have a non-refundable $25 processing fee. If you cancel 1 week before course start date, you will receive a refund of 75% of the total tuition (minus bank fee if paid digitally). If you cancel in the 6 days following the first class, you may request a refund of 50% of the total tuition (minus bank fee if paid digitally). Anyone who drops out after the second class will not receive any refund.

Refund requests must be made in writing and may take up to 14 business days to process. Refunds must be requested by the person whose name is on the money order or credit card used and refund checks will only be made out to that person.
